Teaching Skills Workshop – – Aubrey Dalke
Wednesday, June 18th 1-1:50 pm
https://momence.com/s/116019864
In this workshop, trainees will explore the teaching skill of layering exercises, using the Teaching Critique Sheet as a guide. The focus will be on identifying fundamental movement skills and recognizing the relationships between exercises—how each one builds on the last and prepares the body for what comes next. It will help you see the intentional progression within the Pilates Method and practice communicating that clarity in your teaching. There’s nothing haphazard about this work—every exercise has a purpose.
Modifications & Working Level – Kaile Ziemba
Wednesday, June 18th 2-2:55 pm
https://momence.com/s/114717864
Do you find it challenging to level up your Pilates? Have you or your clients plateaued at a certain level and want more from your Pilates practice? Being able to do higher level exercises increases our fitness level and reflects that we are closer to uniform development. In this workshop we will re-evaluate how and when to use modifications. We will make sure we are not modifying unknowingly or too often to assure we increase our strength and mobility to better organize our bodies and achieve our full potential.
Advanced Mat – Side Series – Kelli Burhalter Hutchins
Wednesday, June 18th 4-4:55 pm
https://momence.com/s/114717906
Balancing on one arm is no easy feat—but it’s a skill that can be developed with the right tools and understanding. In this one-hour workshop, we’ll break down the final side series of the Advanced Mat—Kneeling Side Kicks, Side Bend, Twist 1, and Twist 2—and explore the foundational strength, control, and support needed to execute each exercise with confidence.
Whether you’re working toward these movements or refining your approach, this session will help you build the power, precision, and alignment necessary to truly own these one-arm challenges.
History of The Pilates Center – Amy Taylor Alpers
Wednesday, June 18th 5-5:55 pm
https://momence.com/s/114717905
Join Amy Taylor Alpers for a reflective journey through the founding of The Pilates Center and the creation of its teacher training program. Amy will share her personal story—how her time studying under Romana Kryzanowska shaped her teaching, and how she and her sister Rachel Taylor Segel built one of the first comprehensive programs rooted in Romana’s classical work.
This conversation will also explore a pivotal moment in Pilates history: the trademark lawsuit of the 1990s. Amy will speak from her experience about how she and Rachel became key figures in the case—how their decision to speak up placed them at odds with parts of the classical community, despite their unwavering respect and commitment to what Romana had taught them.
This is an opportunity to hear directly from Amy about the complexities of lineage, loyalty, and leadership, and how TPC’s mission continues to honor the tradition while moving it forward.
Partnering – Kelli Burkhalter Hutchins
Thursday, June 19th 8-8:55 am
https://momence.com/s/115886797
Partnering clients is a hands-on skill that requires both practice and precision. This workshop will cover essential partnering techniques designed to support your clients safely—without compromising your own body in the process. You’ll learn how to use your body mechanics effectively to protect yourself from strain and injury, while still offering meaningful, responsive support.
The session will demonstrate a variety of strategies for different exercises and teaching scenarios, with an emphasis on staying strong, aligned, and sustainable through long teaching days. Whether you’re new to partnering or looking to refine your approach, this workshop will help you build confidence and longevity in your teaching practice.
3 Exercises on 3 Different Apparatus – Kaile Ziemba & Kelli Burhalter Hutchins
Thursday, June 19th 1-2:55 pm
https://momence.com/s/115886844
The incredibly intuitive design of Pilates lies in the fact that it’s a method—a system built with intention and purpose. In this workshop, we’ll compare and contrast the same exercise across three different pieces of equipment.
Through this exploration, we’ll discuss why one version might serve your client better than another and how each apparatus offers unique feedback. By deepening your understanding of how to use the method—rather than working around it—you’ll discover that you don’t have to modify as often.
The more clearly you see the method, the more directly your clients can access the full benefits of each exercise.
Using Props to Assist Clients – Kaile Ziemba
Friday, June 20th 10-10:55 am
https://momence.com/s/115886893
In this workshop, we’ll explore the nuance of using props as an extension of your hands—tools for guiding, supporting, and partnering with your client. When used intentionally, props can play a pivotal role in helping clients access an exercise more fully.
Rather than being crutches or distractions, props can enhance your client’s understanding, build confidence, and encourage greater ownership of their bodies and their workouts. We’ll discuss how to choose and use props that facilitate progress—while staying true to the design and integrity of the Pilates method.
Intention of Teacher Training Program – Amy Taylor Alpers
Friday, June 20th 11-11:55 am
https://momence.com/s/115886910
The Pilates Center Teacher Training Program was developed with the support of Romana Kryzanowska and her mentee, Steve Giordano, and officially launched in 1991. Its mission has always been to preserve the original method created by Joseph H. Pilates—and to train teachers who truly embody the system and its deeper intention.
Mr. Pilates was clear: his method was designed to create whole body health through the uniform development of the body. This balanced development allows the body’s fluids to circulate freely and powerfully, supporting detoxification and regeneration through what he called “the internal shower.” A strong, flexible spine is essential, and the ability to breathe deeply and “capaciously” is the ultimate goal.
In this workshop, we’ll explore these foundational concepts and examine how to teach Pilates in a way that actively promotes this mission—helping us move beyond choreography into the deeper purpose.
Symposium and Q&A – Kaile Ziemba
Friday, June 20th 12-12:50 pm
https://momence.com/s/115887958
This open-ended session is designed for trainees. It’s a space to connect, reflect, and ask questions in a supportive and collaborative environment.
Bring whatever’s on your mind—questions about the work, the method, the testing process, teaching strategies, or your own personal practice. This is a chance to learn from others, talk through challenges, and deepen your understanding of the method. No set agenda—just real, thoughtful conversation rooted in curiosity, community, and a shared love of Pilates.
Pilates Demystified: Foundations for Success- Debora Kolwey
Friday, June 20th 3-5:55 pm
https://momence.com/s/114718958
This workshop focuses on fundamental patterns and basic movements inherent in human structure to help trainees and teachers clearly understand the Pilates method. By exploring core movement patterns, participants will begin creating a clear and reliable movement map, which is essential for skill-building and layering techniques.
The session is designed to demystify Pilates, supporting attendees in overcoming confusion by developing a solid foundation in their personal practice—shifting from uncertain expectations toward authentic self-awareness and genuine understanding. Rather than passive observation or note-taking, this workshop encourages active participation.
Participants will leave empowered, equipped with practical tools and modifications to continuously adapt and deepen their Pilates journey, fostering lifelong confidence in their teaching while inspiring excitement and enabling attendees to confidently apply and expand these concepts independently.
Bony Landmarks & Muscle Patterning – Amy Taylor Alpers
Saturday, June 21st 12-2:55 pm
https://momence.com/s/115888140
The skeleton serves as the grid for alignment in the body. Bony landmarks provide an accessible and reliable roadmap for identifying asymmetries and guiding movement toward greater symmetry and support.
This workshop will help you better see and understand the importance of bony imbalances—and how to use the Pilates Method to address them. With improved skeletal alignment, muscular balance becomes easier to achieve, allowing clients to move more efficiently and experience deeper, more integrated results.
We’ll explore practical tools and strategies for using bony landmarks to promote true uniform development—supporting the method’s intention of restoring the body’s natural design and balance.
