It’s Not About Being “Good” at the Exercises-Master’s Program Workshop

Often, when we practice contrology {or Pilates} we tend to focus on getting good at the exercises. In fact, we get so wrapped up in it that we lose sight of the inherent movement patterns and the benefits that they provide. In reality, it is not about “being good” at the exercises at all. It is about living The Method through embodied movement.

In this workshop we’ll leverage the Franklin Method to explore the natural functions in our bodies and then apply them to Pilates. Doing so will help us to better understand what Joe meant by “uniform development”. Participants will go through the full intermediate reformer sequence embodying the human function inherent in each exercise. Bringing our mind to the body will result in Contrology.

Participants will leave this workshop with an understanding of human function and how it applies to the Pilates Method. Teachers will have a clearer understanding of what to look for when teaching the Pilates exercises and how to develop a strategy of leading their clients to a healthy movement pattern. Students will leave with a better understanding of what “return to life” means
