Internal Shower For The Mind: A Guided Inquiry for Host Advisors
Sometimes it’s helpful to de-clutter our thinking. Our minds can benefit from a detox just as
much, maybe more, than our body.
Remember the “How too Observe” page from the training program? In order to keep from going
on overload and rigidifying your learning process we recommended a progressive approach; a
form of layering the information during your observation hours. This progressive adding of
information was also an approach we suggested for your teaching.
You observed, took lessons, did your own work outs and gradually began to practice teaching
with others. Then the process began anew.
If you think about it, each time and with each new layer, you probably saw things differently and
most certainly heard things differently. And experienced the work in your body differently which
of course impacted how you observed, what you retained, and the questions you had.
It doesn’t change when you get out in “the real world”. Our lives are organized developmentally,
not linearly. For some people this is a relief as it allows for an ongoing enrichment and keeps
things fresh. For some it can be frustrating and even mess with your self confidence. Things
you may have felt so sure about, come into question.
Add to this the responsibility you feel as a Host Advisor, to support the trainees in your own
studio who have, via the Pilates Center’s teacher training program, come to you to get them
through to the finish line.
Fortunately, we have each other and regardless of how long you have been at this; 2 years or
40, we all go through something similar.
Join me on July 15th from 3:30-5:30pm mountain time to unpack, simplify, deconstruct,
reconstruct, support and acknowledge each other and the work we do together.
I have heard if you have something in your closet for more than a year and you haven’t worn it,
it’s time to give it away. Hey! Let’s go shopping!
See you, soon
