Patti Mulvihill
Biography
A ballet major at the University of Utah in 1981, Patti endured a horrific car accident that gave her, among other things, a broken back, 3 months in a body cast, 5 fused vertebrae, and a new major – recreational therapy. Two years after the accident she went to her first Pilates class. Already very active as a dancer, runner, hiker, biker, aerobics junkie of the 80′s and 90′s, telemark skier, and river runner, Pilates was one among many physical pursuits. After graduating, Patti was the executive director of a non-profit organization providing river rafting, cross country skiing and climbing for people with disabilities and special needs. in 1993, she earned her masters degree in social work and worked as a hospice social worker. Following two knee surgeries, and 22 years after that first class, Patti once again took up Pilates. And since that return she has personally experienced the remarkable changes that practice brings. In 2009, Patti graduated from the renowned Pilates Center in Boulder, Colorado. It is truly, with the discovery of Pilates, that Patti believes in people’s ability to heal and move more gracefully, with more strength, alignment and balance, into their 50′s, 60′s, 70′s and 80′s.
