Melissa Trelfa
Biography
Melissa Trelfa received her undergraduate and master’s degrees in Michigan and worked in corporate organizations for 20 years. She decided to leave the corporate world so she could help people, in a more direct and high touch way, and became a Licensed Massage Therapist. While working as a massage therapist, she was introduced to classical Pilates and instantly fell in love with how it helped her body, improved her strength and had a significantly positive impact on her horseback riding. As she continued to practice Pilates, she recognized the connection to her massage work. She could massage and alleviate pain for her clients, but unless they changed the way they moved and developed better stability and flexibility, the pain would return. She began to study Classical Pilates and entered the Teacher Training Certification program with The Pilates Center of Boulder. Melissa loves anatomy and physiology and believes passionately in the body’s ability to heal itself through movement and preventive care. She lives on a horse farm in La Grange, Kentucky with her husband, two children, two dogs and five horses. She rides competitively in the sport of Eventing and Dressage with her daughter and the family enjoys sailing in the summer on Lake Michigan.
