Where in the World is Amy Taylor Alpers: Dubai

Amy Taylor Alpers, co-founder of The Pilates Center with sister Rachel Taylor Segel, will be sharing The Pilates Center’s mission to heal the world through Pilates this March in Dubai.

“I truly believe the answer to creating world peace lies in healing people’s wholeness, so they feel empowered, pain-free, and able to achieve their true potential. That’s what Pilates has taught me and that’s my personal mission.”

It’s this kind of experience and wisdom that Amy Taylor Alpers will be sharing with Pilates teachers and students in Dubai as they learn to move and be inspired by Pilates.

“There’s value in enabling people to heal themselves with this amazing movement form. I can honestly say Pilates is the most rewarding career in every way possible. It gave me a career, helped me attain and maintain my health, and gave me a mission in life—to help heal people with Pilates and to create world peace. The future is one of endless possibilities for Pilates.”

From March 15-18th, you’ll be able to find Amy Taylor Alpers at the Jeanique Pilates, Emirates Golf Club in Dubai, where she will be teaching intermediate, advanced, semi-private, and private classes as well as leading workshops including the following:

  • One Size Does Not Fit All

The variations in the human body’s design are more diverse and complicated than we think. Together, we’ll see how Pilates helps ‘uniformly develop’ the body and bring it into ideal balance and alignment so we can move with efficiency and effectiveness.

  • Dealing with Complaints

When teaching Pilates, we are often met with clients who require additional help with specific issues that can be outside our comfort zone and even our scope of practice. It’s important to remember that our main task is to utilize the exercises Joseph Pilates designed, to the best of our abilities, to help people achieve optimal overall health.

  • Accessing Your Psoas: Creating True Integrated Movement

Joseph Pilates designed every movement to involve the ‘whole body’ and to connect it in its entirety to and from its core/center/powerhouse. We will develop visual assessment skills to determine whether a movement is coming from ‘the center’ and how to correct it if not. Moving from our center in a whole-body integrated way is how we work to achieve ultimate power and health potential through Pilates.

  • Footwork the Fortune Teller

Footwork reveals nearly every issue a person is experiencing. Teachers can learn to teach effective, efficient, and functional movement patterns, especially during equipment or Matwork exercises, by learning to see and understand what Footwork is saying and to correct problems from happening from the start.

  • Practical Anatomy for Pilates Teachers

This workshop will explore human anatomy in a practical, user-friendly, and movement-based way to benefit Pilates teachers wanting to learn more. If we want to help our clients move toward Uniform Development, a key Pilates principle, then we need to understand how the body works in real-time so we can teach with confidence.
