The Pilates Center’s very own Kelli Burkhalter Hutchins, Director of Education and Licensed Teacher Trainer, will be teaching at Pure Pilates in Oklahoma City from April 1-2, 2023.
This will be a weekend full of Pilates workshops for both instructors and Pilates enthusiasts. Kelli will be teaching two workshops as well as offering private lessons and classes, and she’s excited to share her passion for Pilates and help others learn how to take charge of their health by improving their strength, flexibility, and balance. Workshops include:
- The Pelvis: Finding Its Place and Space
Saturday, April 1, 2023, 2-5pm CST, 3 CECs
This workshop will dive deep into the structure and natural movement of the pelvis and how to recognize imbalances that can affect the whole body. Kelli will explore and explain how the body compensates in the pelvis and ribcage, often leading to back pain and hip and knee injuries. Instructors will learn how to address these issues when teaching so they can show clients how to be more present and proactive in their everyday movement. Kelli will show instructors how they can realign their clients on the equipment and the mat to prevent injury and enable better healing after an injury or surgery, as well as look at different exercises on all apparatus.
- Take Your Power Back: Discovering Your Upper Body Power
Sunday, April 2, 2023, 9-12pm CST, 3 CECs
This workshop will explore Pilates exercises on the equipment to better understand the role of the upper body and how to develop strength. Kelli will explain the missing links we have in our upper bodies and how we can focus on increasing strength in these areas while practicing Pilates. Learning to start an exercise sequence from these strengths will provide a better connection to the whole body. Viewing the Pilates method through this lens increases strength and encourages Uniform Development.
