Pilates Teacher Training
Master’s Program
Overview:
The Pilates Center’s Master’s Program is for graduates of all teacher training programs including TPC graduates. Teachers can apply for this program after they have been teaching professionally for six months. This program introduces non-TPC teacher training graduates to our teaching philosophy. For TPC’s graduates, it gives them an opportunity to take continuing education workshops that go beyond the basic teacher training programs. This is a pay as you go program. All MP students have 3 years to complete the 116 hours.
Enrollment Requirements:
- Graduation from a comprehensive Pilates training program that included a minimum of 450 hours of education on all apparatus
- Six months professional teaching post graduation from a 450 hour comprehensive Teacher Training Program
Students can send in their application by filling it out directly on the website.
Completion Requirements:
Successful Completion of 116 program hours. Students can choose to take all 116 hours as MP workshops. All Master’s Program students MUST complete a total of 56 hours in Boulder at The Pilates Center. If a TPC teacher is traveling, this is not acceptable for hours at The Pilates Center. Students have the option to complete 20 hours of mentorship, these hours can ONLY be done at The Pilates Center in Boulder.
- Observation – 7 hours
- Lessons – 7 hours
- Observed Teaching and/or Teaching Skills Classes: – 6 hours
Fewer mentorship hours can be done but must be completed evenly between the three different types of mentorship hours. 20 hours is the maximum that can be done for the MP Program. Students can choose to complete 20 hours of Mentoring with Amy, Rachel, or Debora to count as mentorship hours.
Formal Lectures – 60 hours
Non-TPC graduates are required to take the Formal Lecture Series, a total of 60 hours. This can be done online or at any location that they are offered live. The 60 hours is included in the 116 hours.
Non-TPC graduates have the option to test out of the Formal Lecture Series. The process is that they must test out of Weekend I and II by taking The Pilates Center’s teacher training Exam 1 (cost $100). If the student passes, then they are eligible to test out of Weekend III and IV by “performing” a Level IV Reformer (cost $100). If a student tests out successfully they are still required to finish a total of 116 hours of Master’s Program workshops.
