Teacher Training Preparatory Program
Preparatory Program

Overview:
The Pilates Center Preparatory Program is designed to assist prospective students in achieving an intermediate-advanced performance level in order to be considered for acceptance into The Pilates Center Teacher Training Program (TCPTTP).

The criteria for acceptance into TPCTTP are:
  • Passing performance of a Level III on Mat/Reformer (per card)
  • Exhibit proper breath, control and speed (tempo)
  • Demonstrate core strength and movement from powerhouse
  • Able to take cues and self correct
  • Knowledge of flow, order, springs, repetitions, transitions and equipment
  • Injury free
  • Post-partum (minimum four to six months)
  • Some exposure to other pieces of equipment, i.e. Cadillac, Chair, Barrels
  • Experience - the prospective student needs to have undergone enough physical and mental changes as a client of Pilates so that they recognize the value of PIlates in their own bodies. It is our hope that the prospective student has developed the passion and commitment to Pilates, and an extreme desire to become a teacher of the Method.

The Preparatory Program was created to prevent injury, ensure a safe and smooth progression in performance ability, and enable the prospective student to complete a Level III performance. It is important that the prospective student is able to perform classical Pilates prior to entering the program so that they may focus on learning how to teach the exercises rather than learning to perform the exercises.

There are two Preparatory Program options, a six month and a three month course. A prospective student would be ready to begin the six month program when they are:
  • Injury and pain free
  • Fairly athletic, meaning they possess: muscle memory and control, overall muscle tone and balance, overall sense of body awareness
  • Postpartum 6 months or more
  • Have taken 30 or more Mat/Reformer lessons
  • Have a basic knowledge of Level II choreography

Should the prospective student be a Level II-III, meet all the above guidelines, and possess a movement background, they would be a candidate for the three month program option.

    Costs:
The six month program is $3,350.00 and consists of 125 lessons:
     Privates   26
     Reformers   24
     Mats   24
     Semi-Privates   7
