| The Pilates Center, located in Boulder, Colorado, was established in 1990 by sisters Amy Taylor Alpers and Rachel Taylor Segel. The sisters trained in New York City at The Pilates Studio and were certified by Romana Kryzanowska, heir to the classical tradition of Joseph Pilates. In 1991, The Pilates Center established their Teacher Training Program. Developed with the assistance of Romana Kryzanowska and Steve Giordano, the program has been labeled "The Harvard of Pilates Teacher Training Programs." Comprised of almost 900 hours, it is the most rigorous program available.
